Photograph of the painting 'The Dead Christ Mourned' by Annibale Carracci (1560-1609). The dead Christ lies on the lap of the Virgin May, who appears to have fainted. On the right, Mary Magdalene kneels down and gestures with her hands. Two other women features in the painting, possibly Mary Salome and Mary, the mother of James.

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of William George Howard, 8th Earl of Carlisle (1880- 89). The painting is now held by the National Gallery, London.
