Photograph of a painting of the Madonna and Child by Raphael (1483-1520). The painting, known as the 'Small Cowper Madonna' depicts the Virgin Mary in a three-quarter length portrait, holding the infant Christ Child. They are depicted in the Italian countryside. The painting is photographed in its frame. A small piece of paper with the number '37' written on it features in the lower right corner.

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of Francis Thomas de Grey Cowper, 7th Earl Cowper (1834-1905). The painting is now held by the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
