Photograph of a painting of Madonna and Child by Raphael (1483-1520), known as the 'Large Cowper Madonna' or 'Niccolini-Cowper Madonna'. The Virgin Mary is represented in three-quarter length seated, facing three-quarters to the left. The Christ Child is seated on her lap, facing towards the viewer. He extends out his left arm to grab hold of his mother's shirt. The painting is photographed in its frame.

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of Francis Thomas de Grey Cowper (1834-1905). The work is now held by the National Gallery of Art, Washington.
