Photograph of a painting of a half length portrait of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu (1689-1762) by Carlo Francesco Rusca (1696-1769). The sitter turns her head halfway to the right and gazes ahead. She holds a book in her right hand and rests her right arm on a skull. Part of an inventory number can be seen in the lower left corner.

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of Edward Montagu Stuart Granville Montagu-Stuart-Wortley-Mackenzie, 1st Earl of Wharncliffe (1827-99). The painting is now in the Government Art Collection.
