Photograph of the painting 'Crossing the Brook' by Paul Falconer Poole (1807-79). The painting depicts a young woman trying to cross a stream, or brook, whilst holding a young child. She stands on a rock near the brook.

At the time of the photograph, the painting was in the collection of William Bashall. The painting is now held by the Bury Art Museum, near Manchester.
