'The Queen's Birthtable [sic]'

24 May 1858

Salted paper print | 16.9 x 21.5 cm (image) | RCIN 2917868

Photograph of Queen Victoria's birthday table at Osborne. The table is decorated with floral arrangements, including a depiction of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's monogram.

Of the day, Queen Victoria wrote in her journal: 'When dressed I went with Albert to the present room, where dear Mama & the 8, instead of 9, Children stood. Alice gave me a dear note & nosegay, from her & Vicky. Received so many lovely things, which it would take too long to enumerate.'

A hand-coloured photograph of this work exists in the Royal Collection, RCIN 2937245.
