Photograph of a painting depicting a full length portrait of Princess Alice, later Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (1843-78). She is shown standing, facing right. She turns her head and looks towards the viewer. She is depicted wearing the dress in which she appeared at her first Drawing-Room (a formal reception where ladies were presented at court) on 7 May 1859.
