Photograph of John Brown, a gillie on the Balmoral estate, seated on a wrought iron bench and facing three-quarters to the left. He is dressed in Balmoral tartan with kilt and sporran. At the far end of the bench, to Brown's right, is a gun, hipflask and jacket. A leather bag is placed to the left of the bench by a stone wall.
